Nietzsche Source received support from the following institutions:
The Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique, has supported Nietzsche Source with personnel, rooms, and additional facilities since 1999 at the Institut des Textes et Manuscrits Modernes, CNRS-ENS, Paris and from 2008 to 2011 at the Maison Française d’Oxford, CNRS-MAEE, Oxford. The CNRS also supported Nietzsche Source through two specific grants from the programmes “Aides à Projet Nouveau” (2000, Prof. Dr. Paolo D’Iorio, director) and GIS Sciences de la cognition (1998-1999, Prof. Dr. Paolo D’Iorio and Bill Turner, directors) and, at the very beginning, within its thematic programme “Archives de la création” (1998-1999, Prof. Dr. Daniel Ferrer, Director).
The European Commission, within the eContentplus programme, funded the Discovery Project – Digital Semantic Corpora for Virtual Research in Philosophy — from 2007 to 2009, formed by 6 partner institutions under the coordination of Prof. Dr. Paolo D’Iorio and the Agora Project — Scholarly Open Access Research in European Philosophy — from 2011 to 2013.
The Foundation of Weimar Classics, one of Germany’s most significant cultural institutions, signed an agreement with the Association HyperNietzsche for the digitization and publication on the Internet of all documents relevant to the life and work of Friedrich Nietzsche that belong to the Foundation. This unprecedented agreement includes manuscripts, letters, biographical documents and first editions of Nietzsche’s works as well as the volumes in Nietzsche’s personal library. The joint goal of the Foundation and Nietzsche Source is both to support research and to increase the scholarly value of the archive materials.
The Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft awarded two research grants (for the periods 2002-2004 and 2006-2007) to the project “HyperNietzsche – Pilotedition für das Modell eines netzbasierten geisteswissenschaftlichen Editions-, Kommunikations- und Forschungshypertextes”, directed by Prof. Dr. Günter Abel, TU Berlin and Prof. Dr. Paolo D’Iorio.
From 2015 to 2018 and from 2021 to 2023 the DFG awarded a research grant to the project “Digitale Faksimile-Gesamtausgabe Nietzsches (DFGA)” directed by Dr. Bernhard Fischer and by Prof. Dr. Marcel Lepper, directors of the Goethe-Schiller archive in Weimar, in collaboration with Prof. Dr. Paolo D’Iorio.
From 2016 to 2019 the DFG and the ANR awarded a research grant to the project “Nietzsches Bibliothek. Digitale Edition und philosophischer Kommentar” directed by Prof. Dr. Paolo D’Iorio and Prof. Dr. Andreas Urs Sommer (Freiburg University).
The Alexander von Humboldt-Foundation and the German Federal Ministry for Education and Research awarded Prof. Dr. Paolo D’Iorio with the Sofja Kovalevskaja Award “for outstanding young scientists and scholars” for the project “HyperNietzsche – Modell eines netzbasierten geisteswissenschaftlichen Editions-, Kommunikations- und Forschungshypertextes”. The project was realised from 2001 to 2004 by a research group at the University of Munich (LMU, host researcher Prof. Dr. Hans Walter Gabler).
The French Ministry of Research, within the Action Concertée Incitative “Jeunes chercheurs”, funded the project “HyperNietzsche” from 2001 to 2003 under the direction of Prof. Dr. Paolo D’Iorio.
Nietzsche Source is the pilot project of two European coordination actions:
2006-2010 COST Action A32, “Open Scholarly Communities on the Web”, 15 European countries participating (Prof. Dr. Paolo D’Iorio, initiator and director until August 2008).
2004-2007 Groupement de Recherche Européen (GDREplus), “Hyper-Learning. Modèles ouverts de recherche et d’enseignement sur Internet”, 29 partners from 9 European countries (Prof. Dr. Paolo D’Iorio, director).
